SW Hope Missions - The story of the vision
"In the nineties, after I had been appointed as the TES Evangelist For The South West of England, a group of us started holding prayer meetings in the quaint seaside town of Watchet in West Somerset at the home of a Christian lady with a real intercession and prayer ministry. There in that house on the hill overlooking the bay we prayed that the Lord would open the doors in the stadiums of the South West of England for large-scale evangelistic missions reaching multitudes across the South-West. The vision for a Hope mission in Devon was birthed! Following this, we started holding larger and well-attended prayer events in and around Taunton under the name Shaking the South West, praying again that the Lord would open the stadium doors in the South West.
Several years later I was taken out for lunch in London by a very well-known Christian businessman from the north of England, who told me that he believed that the Lord was going to open the doors for me to start preaching in large-scale evangelistic missions overseas. He went on to say that he believed that after I had spent some time conducting such gospel missions and gaining experience in the field of large-scale evangelistic missions that the Lord would open the doors for me to hold such evangelistic missions in Great Britain. A year later I received my first invitation to hold a gospel crusade in Africa in the northern Zambian town of Kasama! The African crusade ministry had begun! The vision to hold large-scale Hope Missions in Great Britain, however, stayed firmly in my heart!
Let's pray for the stadium doors in the SW to open for the preaching of the glorious gospel of Christ!
