The Evangelization Society (TES) was founded in 1864 to reach the people of Great Britain with the gospel of Christ. Among its founders were Lord Radstock and Brownlow North, who saw the great need to raise up a team of preaching evangelists to carry out this vital task. Between 1870-2004 over 1400 people served as TES evangelists, including Wilson Carlile who went on to found The Church Army. TES also had links with William Booth, encouraging him and helping him to found the Salvation Army.
Maurice Rowlandson, Billy Graham's UK Director, wrote to Alex and encouraged him to apply to join TES, as he knew they were looking for a Team Evangelist in the South West of England. After this, Maurice kindly wrote to Ron Spillards, the TES National Director to commend Alex to him. As a result of Alex's application and Maurice's letter of commendation Alex was invited to the TES headquarters in Swindon to meet with Ron Spillards and the TES Committee and was formally invited to serve as the TES South West Evangelist and to begin his probationary first year.
Alex was privileged to be a Team Evangelist with The Evangelization Society (TES) from 1996 until 2004 until it became a Grant-Making Trust only. He has great memories of his time in The Evangelization Society.

Alex says, "I feel deeply honoured to have served God as a Team Evangelist in one of Great Britain's oldest and most respected preaching organisations, The Evangelization Society. It was a great joy to be able to reach many thousands of people in the South West of England with the glorious gospel of Christ and to help many enquirers to come to the Lord Jesus Christ. I give God all the glory and praise him."
